THE NEIGHBORHOOD

EDITORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY & DESIGN

OVERVIEW

The Neighborhood is an independent editorial magazine conceived, shot, and designed over one quarter. The project brings together eight portrait and fashion series, each standing alone while existing within a single overarching framework. A neighborhood you pass through without ever exactly knowing everyone who lives there.

THE CONCEPT

What if a magazine didn't follow one person, one story, one idea, but instead dropped you into a place and let you look around? The Neighborhood is built on that premise. Each series introduces a character through observation. You catch them in a moment and then you move on. The details do the work.

Visually the project draws from the language of editorial and fashion photography, pulling from the confidence of independent print magazines. The casting, styling, and locations were chosen to feel specific. Each series has its own palette, its own atmosphere, its own sense of place within the larger world.

As photographer, creative director, and layout designer, the work involved creating each series from concept through execution. I developed the visual direction, collaborated with subjects on styling, and built the magazine as a complete editorial object from the ground up.
